Russian govt to study LNG storage creation in Far East by Mar 1
MOSCOW, Dec 26 (PRIME) -- President Vladimir Putin has ordered the government to consider feasibility of creation of centers for transshipment and storage of liquefied natural gas (LNG) in Russia’s Far East until March 1, 2018, according to a list of rulings published on the government’s Web site on Tuesday.
“The government of the Russian Federation…is to study feasibility of creation of centers for transshipment and storage of LNG in the Far East in order to ensure interests of the Russian Federation in the Asia–Pacific region. The report date is March 1, 2018,” the ruling read.
The government is also to put the defense industry on the list of facilities that can produce equipment for LNG production. This is to be done within a road map for localization of production of vital equipment for medium-batch and large LNG production facilities and for construction of LNG carriers, the ruling read.
Putin also ordered the government to consider attracting development institutions to construction of infrastructure for LNG projects.
Another ruling orders the government to develop suggestions to stimulate geological exploration in the Arctic, and to increase development and exploitation of the country’s resource base for implementation of promising LNG projects.
The government must also adjust its strategic documents taking into account possible threats for the Russian energy security from development of the LNG production in the world. The government should define measures to prevent, minimize, and overcome economic and political counteraction to expansion of Russia’s production and exports of natural gas.
The deadline for the last ruling is set for June 1, 2018.
